General health care

The poverty which comes with persecution also brings its own set of healthcare issues. These can include malnutrition, diarrhoea, malaria, pneumonia and measles. It can also lead to serious mental health problems.

To that end we intend to support schemes which will provide medication and medical care for those who are unable to pay for such services. This could be helping with the costs of vaccines, antibiotics, consultations with healthcare professionals and hospitalisation.

For those with no income, these can be prohibitively expensive, and it is our aim to help them meet those expenses through small grants and donations.

Victims of violent persecution

Since 2015, thousand Biafran people have been killed or injured as a result of the persecution they have suffered at the hands of the Nigerian state and Fulani herdsmen.

This violence has a knock-on effect on access to healthcare. In addition to providing support to the families of those who have been killed or disappeared, Biafra Aid intends to help ensure access to the highest standard of healthcare to those who have been injured.

We will also financially support the families of those individuals who have been injured until such time as they are able to generate their own incomes again.
